Our readers have spoken – and they want more. So, we’re expanding (and moving) The Store Starters to cover the marketing topics that span the retail landscape.
When Dave and I started The Store Starters in the fall of 2012, we had one simple objective. We wanted to share our retail marketing expertise with business owners, CMO’s and brands who were opening or remodeling brick-and-mortar locations. Today, we have thousands of followers from around the globe. And, we’ve been fortunate enough to have had countless conversations with marketers who were committed to finding ways to make their next opening their best ever.
But, as we’ve talked with more and more retailers over the past few years, we’ve come to realize they no longer want to limit our discussions to promoting their next grand opening or remodel. They want to talk about how to use social media more effectively. They’re curious about geo-fencing. They want to discuss their media mix and omnichannel marketing. They’re looking for new ways to reach potential customers, without alienating existing ones.
In short, our readers want to talk about all of the facets of marketing their retail brands in the 21st century!
Maybe it’s the old (ol’?) journalist in me, but it just feels appropriate to “give the people what they want.” So, we’ve chosen to evolve the list of topics we cover. And, as we move out of our niche category of new store marketing, we’re getting back to our retail marketing roots – and closer aligning this blog with what we do with our existing clients and brands at Sheehy Marketing.
Since the early 1990’s, we’ve had the privilege of working with global brands like The Kroger Co. and Arby’s, as well as a host of other amazing regional and local clients and businesses.
Over the years, our staff has amassed expertise in nearly every imaginable aspect of retail marketing – from brand development, to in-store signage, to media planning and placement (and everything in between).
So, moving forward, this site will be expanded to include a wider range of topical discussions. We’ll unapologetically begin sharing ideas, insights and learnings that span the entire retail marketing landscape. And, as a nod to our company’s Irish heritage, we’ve changed the name of this space to Luck By Design. Although you can never underestimate the value of a little luck – surrounding yourself with great talent and expertise is one of the real secrets of true success. We’ve also brought the site a little closer to home, to make it even easier to access all that our talented team at Sheehy has to offer today’s retailers.
I hope you’ll continue to spend some time with us when your attention is focused on promoting your store and your brand. [Hint: You should ALWAYS be thinking about this!]
If you have additional subjects you’d like us to cover, don’t hesitate to send us your suggestions. And, if you ever need personalized support for your brand, our retail team is just a phone call or email away.
It’s truly an exciting time for retailers. There are more tools than ever to help you market your brand to your current (and potential) customers. Just make sure you have a compelling story to tell. As our company’s namesake (Bill Sheehy) believed, “the quickest way to expose a bad message is with a great media buy.” And, that’s never been truer than it is today.
